Network Monitoring Software - IPSWITCH WhatsUpGold

Discover a cheap Windows-based system monitoring tool for small to medium organizations

Network Management Challenges

As networks have grown in size and capabilities, they have also grown in terms of their importance to the organization. It is where applications and transactions are hosted; where internal and external users access, send, and share information and where mission-critical data are stored. It is critical to ensure network availability and performace. And it's hard enough to effectively manage a single network within a single organization 24/7, with the ability to track, respond to, and report on changes in performance and status over time. The complexity grows in enterprise environments with multiple LANs and WANs.

Introducing WhatsUpGold 12.4

There are 4 different versions
-Premium
-Distributed
-Standard
-MSP (Manage Service Provider)
For comparison of Product Feature, refer to http://www.whatsupgold.com/products/comparison.aspx.
I have implemented WhatsUp Gold Premium ver12.4 in my organization to monitor 20 Windows and Unix servers, 10 network devices (Cisco Router, Firewall, HP ProCurve switches), 30 printers, 10 remote servers and network devices.Installing the product is easy with a full installation of the MSDE database engine.
To monitor your network, you need to specify what to monitor by using a simple subnet scan (IPADDRESS) or SNMP scan which checks an SNMP-enabled device such as a router. You can also create individual devices if you know their specific addresses.
IPSWITCH understands that different devices will have different roles and configurations and so for each thing on the network you can configure WhatsUp to monitor different criteria. Example ping, HTTP and SMTP for your email server, and ping, HTTP for your web server. You are also able to check CPU utilisation, network interface usage and disk availability.
Have you ever needed to access your network management solution to view status information and don't have a computer with you?WhatsUp Gold solves this problem by putting network management in the palm of your hand. Now you can access all the important information about your network through 35 pre-configured reports and NetFlow data through your web-enabled smartphone or PDA.
Download a free trial of WhatsUp Gold now, and try these new features and enhancements for yourself http://www.whatsupgold.com/products/download/index.aspx?p=premium.

WhatsUpGold Mobile Access

Have you ever been in a situation where you have received a notification on your mobile device or PDA about a failure on your network and dont have access to a computer to see what is going on? Since the inception of network management and monitoring software, the interaction has been largely one sided as alerts and notifications are normally pushed to portable devices. This one-sided interaction dictates that network managers still need a computer to access their network management solutions to gain insight into the cause of an alert or understand status of systems. Be more responsive from anywhere, at any time. It is no longer sufficient getting notifications to pagers or SMS messages/email on smartphones or mobile devices when infrastructure issues occur. Now you have the ability to react to events immediately after receiving an alert or notification of a problem with WhatsUp Gold Mobile Access.
